Natural Pearls and the Causes of Different length
It has been eighty years of study since people wanted to solve the mystery that how the pearls get the color. The result comes out to be several factors: the species of pearl oyster, the length of culturing time, the temperature of culturing water, and even the harvest season. There is no way to accurately notice the color of pearls before removed the shell.
When different bead nucleus is implanted in one oyster, it may produce five different colors of pearls. To these phenomena, scientists still can not fully understand the reason.
Oysters can produce almost all colors of pearls. When we mention pearl colors, it means the potential pearl color. The standard color can be various from black to creamy, and to the silver-white South Sea pearls. However, if examined any of these pearls carefully, you will find other colors, that is, the color of surface refraction.
Black Tahitian pearl has a tone from soft silver-gray to dark black, you will find refractive color of pink, purple or green just in the tone.
The refractive color of pearl normally will be slight pink, silver or blue. To the black pearl, most of the refractive colors are green or pink. The pearl’s color is usually named by the blend of surface color and the refractive color. For example, white rose, it means that the refractive color is rose and the surface color is white. To the variegated pearl (non-white pearls, black pearls for example), which has a third evaluation criterion: tone. There will be four grades according to the degree of brightness and darkness.
Preferences of pearl color and tone are different depend on different people in different area. Pink and white pearls are very popular in the US, however, in France, people like milk-white while people eager to yellow and gold In South America and Spain. A research showed that the different preference is closely related to skin color.
In fact, one certain color is not nobler than others, but the demand for a certain color and the scarcity will have an effect on its price. Even so, the value of color accounted for only 10% of pearls. The demand of red pearl has been great, so they are often more expensive than the golden or the milk-white one. Pearls can contain various color: white, gold, silver, pink, red, black, blue, gray and others, but when come across distinct black or gray pearls, it should lead to alert, they are may be dyed beads. The color of real black pearls should be rainbow black, it come out to be with slightly bronze or dark blue. As a result, consumers must pay exceptionally attention while purchasing expensive black pearls.
