Do my symptoms show a metal allergy?
Not sure but I have been wearing a choker chain with a military and religious medallion for about 4 months. It was supposed to be all stainless steel but is not. I recently noticed that it would burn while I was actively sweating sometimes. I didn’t pay much attention to it and kept wearing it. I work construction so im always sweating. I developed a low grade headache, tightness in shoulders and neck and sore throat for about a month now. Yesterday had a huge rash all around my neck where the chain was so I removed the chain. Today seems better still have all symptoms. Is my religious medallion trying to kill me? Are the symptoms relative to a metal allergy?
White gold is one of the jewellery metals that sometimes leaves marks on people’s skin. Yellow gold at times also does, and the reason for that is the alloying process. It isn’t the actual gold that causes the reaction, it is the metals that are used to create the alloy such as nickel. Those sometimes cause allergic reactions and can leave a mark on your skin.
However what you are describing is most likely a skin irritation . when you sweat your pores open and the acid from your medal and skin is reacting. metal POISONING!
Avoid metal jewelry with visible solder. It usually contains high amounts of lead. yes lead. cadmium, there are more peaces of jewelry taken off shelves then children s toys..(The symptoms of lead poisoning are reduced IQ, nausea, abdominal pain, irritability, insomnia, excess lethargy, or hyperactivity and headache.
