What is this white film on the top of the water in my sea-monkey tank?
I’ve had sea-monkeys since around Christmas, and have taken relatively good care of them, but today I noticed a white film floating on top of the water. How do I get rid of it and what is it? I’ve tried finding the answer on all of the sea-monkey web-sites, but have found nothing about white film on the top.
It may be that you have over fed them and the white film you mention is a bacterial film. I would try to increase your manually aeration so that if it is waste matter that is being broken down it is dissolved by the constant bubbling action. Also the air that you bump in will increase oxygen and promote good friendly bacteria instead of stinky nasty bacteria. I would not feed again until the mess begins to clear. If you place your tank in indirect sunlight you should also be able to encourage algae to start growing which is a sea monkeys favorite food and preferred over the dry stuff that come with their kits. once this algae establishes I would throttle back on feeding altogether un less the little dark lines in the length of their bodies disappear. which means they are hungry.
