WHY does this seem like a touchy subject for latinos? I would pefer to only hear from latinos?
I have in laws that are PUERTO RICAN ( boriqua) anyways they will inform me that the lations race is just as racist towards Afro latinos in their culture . My cousin in law inform me that the darker skinned latinos are looked down at . byy the mixed and white Puerto ricans. So my question really is why ? WHy do people get upset when i ask a legit question . I mean the prove is in the pudding . I watch Miss universe for the past years and I never once saw a Afro latina represent a latinno country . Unlike America which had TWO BLACK USA IN A ROW TO REPRESENT THIS COUNTRY AT MISS UNIVERSE ( THEY BOTH FELL BUT HEY STUFF HAPPENS) I MEAN WHY I KNOW THE LATINO CULTURE HAVE A HUGE POPULATION OF AFRO LATINOS BUT YOU RARELY SEE THEM REPRESENTED IN MOVIES, TV AND EXTRA. HOWEVER YOU DO SEE THEM ALOT IN BLACK FILMS , HIP HOP , MODELS AND IN HIP HOP VIDEOS.
Yes, this is true. I’ve seen it happen in my own family. Even though they are my family, there are some of them that are racist, especially the older generation.
My father was kind of like this. He was very light puerto Rican, about Marc Anthony’s complexion, but he married a black woman, but would not allow me to have Haitian friends because they were too dark. He would tell me not to bring a Black man in his house, yet my mother was Black, about the complexion of Whitney Houston. Ironic, huh?
The younger generation of my family is nothing like this. They bring ALL colors around and it looks like the United Nations and I think its a beautiful thing.
