Cake decorating question? How to make round pearl/ball with an icing tip?
I have to make some big eyes on a cupcake, so I’m using a wilton’s white icing tube with a #12 tip, which is just a big circular opening.
I’m practicing on a paper plate, and all of my “circle”s end up like ice cream cones when I finish squeezing the icing and lift the tip away from the design.
How do I keep them as blobs? I don’t want the pointy tip that results when I lift the decorating tip away from the icing.
Ok, put your tip close to the parchment. Squeeze. Keep squeezing. When as big as you want, DO NOT MOVE THE BAG, just stop squeezing. Then push bag in just a tad, then pull bag away. Take your finger, dipped in a speck of water, and pat down any tip that comes up. Should be very small, though. And if you are putting a “pupil” on the big dot, it will cover up any little point.
