Why do people keep saying that white rice is bad and fattening?
I am asian myself and been eating it all my life, I was just wondering why people think that for?
And most people in asia eat white rice, they aren’t fat. So whats your opinion on white rice?
Because they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Brown rice does have more fiber and nutrients, and is a better balanced food,
but the ‘calorie count’ is close, and nowadays most of our diets are rich enough that
you can choose the white rice if you wish with a clear conscience.
Interesting aside: I read somewhere that the Chinese preference for white rice
could be traced to a famous poem about how pretty it looked with vegetables on it.
The nutritionist writing the piece bemoaned the fact that at the time rice was so major
a part of the regional diet that malnutrition did result among those who could afford
the processed grain.
