Are my pearls Real or Fake?

I was given a pearl necklace, and I am trying to decide if it is real or fake. It has 12 pearls (5mm long, 3.5mm wide), and a green turquoise stone (half of an inch wide, half an inch long). My friend bought it for $25. I’ve done tests on the pearls (sun, rub, magnifying glass, etc.), but I cannot tell. The pearls are ovals, but they are not perfect ovals, and they’re all different. They have a half gritty, half smooth texture. Thanks!
The pearls were purchased at an indian market.

The best test for pearls is to rub them lightly with your top front teeth. If they are real, they will feel like gritty sand against your teeth. If fake, they’ll feel smooth.
