I can’t find this book I read a couple years back-I don’t remember the title or the author-help?

Its about two girls-one white and the other japanese who become friends just before Pearl Harbor, i distincly remember how the white girl became like part of the family and her friend’s parents even called her musume and she would ‘push down her nose’ so she could look like her friend and her friend would ‘pinch hers’ to look white every night. Then they were send to japanese enternment camps and had to leave the white girl behind. Later in life the white girl finds her friend-who is married and had surgery in order to not look japanese anymore. The women reunite as friends and battle the strong KKK influence in their town. It’s a wonderful book and i can’t seem to find it anywhere. HELP.
