Hand Knitted Necklace

Is it tacky if I make gifts for my boyfriend rather than buying them, if he buys things for me?
The first thing I should tell you is that I don’t make a lot of money (I barely make minimum wage) but he makes more than I do. He buys things for me, and is not crafty or tool oriented.
Now I am rather craft oriented- I loom knit and I make hemp jewelry, prayer beads, & other beaded jewelry.
So far I have made my boyfriend:
- A scarf
- A pair of hand warmers
- A winter hat
- A hemp necklace
- A hemp bracelet
My question is this- if he buys things for me as gifts, and he isn’t craft oriented, would he appreciate it more if I buy things for him as gifts instead of making them?
I do know he loves the necklace and bracelet (he wears them almost constantly), but he hasn’t gotten the chance to use the winter things yet being that it is summer.
Also, If I make more things, what else should I make him?
It really depends on how materialistic the guy is. Personally, I find “made” gifts so much more satisfying. If I really want something, I’ll go out and get it myself, and I know it’s the right one/right size/what I want. An example: I bought my lady a computer for Christmas that she wanted for school. She made me dinner, a hand-made card with a picture of us that I loved, and a really cool braided bracelet. I was totally happy.
The necklace and bracelet you made are perfect. He can wear them any time and with anything, and it’s not totally standing out. A sweater or something would probably be a bit much. You may never see it.
Think about a photo collage with photos of special moments/places, maybe a custom picture frame, crochet an afghan throw for his bed, volunteer to help make something with him, it’s all good!
